Did we go through an extended period of peace when we could afford to spend so much money and manpower to build a temple for our favourite God rather than defend your Kingdom? Or were these temples really centre of the war games. If it is simply a place of worship, why does the Tiruvannamalai temple have a Fortified wall 40 feet high.I Suppose the Temple was used to safeguard all the village people and as a Fort to save the Kingdom from attacks.May be. History shows that kingdoms were going through a phase of intense competition and warfare.Well we are talking about South Indian Kingdoms during 1000 - 1200 AD.In this scenario, building such a huge and monumental structure just for Worship defies Logic. I have been to the Tiruvannamalai Temple more than 100 times and know nook and corner of this temple. If you remove all the religious things and look at this temple from a purely architectural view point, you will notice a lot of structures in the temple which are of potential war use.I found one structure in the Temple which looked very much like a weapon holder. Well i am not claiming anything here. I am just making an observation here that Huge temples like this one and the Srirangam temple et cetera may have been meant to be used for war games. I will research more into this and make further claims...I dont mean to hurt any religious sentiments..

The Piri Reis Map VI - Mind blowing.

The Piri Reis Map seems to contain surprising collateral evidence in support of the thesis of a geologically recent glaciation of parts of Antarctica following a sudden southwards displacement of the earth's crust. Moreover since such a map could only have been drawn prior to 4000 BCE, its implications for the history of human civilization are staggering. Prior to 4000 BCE there are supposed to have been no civilizations at all. ( Indian civilization ???)

At some risk of oversimplification, the academic consensus is broadly as follows:
Civilization first developed in the "Fertile Crescent" of the Middle East.
This development only began after 4000 BCE, and culminated in the emergence of the earliest true civilizations (Sumer and Egypt) only at around 3000 BCE, soon followed by the Indus Valley and China.
About 1,500 years later, civilization took off spontaneously and independently in the Americas.
Since 3000 BCE in the Old World (and about 1500 BCE in the New) civilization has steadily "evolved" in the direction of ever more refined, complex and productive forms.

In consequence, and particularly by comparison with ourselves, all ancient civilizations, and all their works, are to be understood as essentially primitive (the Sumerian astronomers regarded the heavens with unscientific awe, and even the Pyramids of Egypt were built by "technological primitives").

The evidence of the Piri Reis map appears to upset all this.

In his day, Piri Reis was a well-known figure, and his historical identity is firmly established. An Admiral in the Navy of the Ottoman Turks, he was involved, often on the winning side, in numerous sea battles of the mid-16th century. He was, in addition, considered to be a great expert on the lands of the Mediterranean, and was the author of a famous sailing book, known as the Kitabi Bahriye, which provided a comprehensive description of the coasts, harbors, currents, shallows, landing places, bays and straits of the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas. Despite this illustrious career he somehow managed to fall foul of his masters and was eventually beheaded in 1554 or 1555.

The source maps that Piri Reis used to draw up his 1513 map were, in all probability, originally lodged in the Imperial Library at Constantinople, to which the Admiral is known to have enjoyed privileged access. Those sources (which may in turn have been transferred or copied from other even more ancient centers of learning) no longer exist, or, at any rate, have not yet been found. It was, however, in the library of the old Imperial Palace at Constantinople that the Piri Reis map was itself rediscovered, painted on a gazelle skin and rolled up on a dusty shelf, as recently as 1929.

As the baffled Lt. Colonel Ohlmeyer admitted in his letter to Hapgood in 1960, the Piri Reis map depicts the subglacial topography, the true profile of Queen Maud Land Antarctica beneath the ice. This profile remained completely hidden from view from 4000 BCE (when the advancing ice-sheet covered it) until it was at last revealed again as a result of the comprehensive seismic survey of Queen Maud Land that was carried out during 1949 by a joint British-Swedish scientific reconnaissance team.

If Piri Reis had been the only cartographer to have had access to such anomalous information then it would be wrong to place any great weight on his map. At the most one might say "Perhaps it is significant but, then again, perhaps it is just a coincidence."

The Turkish Admiral, however, was by no means alone in the possession of seemingly impossible and inexplicable geographical knowledge. It would be futile to speculate further than Hapgood himself has already done as to what manner of "underground stream" could have carried and preserved such knowledge through the ages, transmitting fragments of it from culture to culture and from epoch to epoch. Whatever the mechanism, the plain fact is that a number of other cartographers do seem to have been privy to the same curious secrets.

Is it possible that all these mapmakers could have partaken, perhaps unknowingly, in the bountiful scientific legacy of a vanished civilization? The Piri Reis map contains more mysteries than just Antarctica. Drawn in 1513, the map demonstrates an uncanny knowledge of South America -- and not only of its eastern coast but of the Andes Mountains on the western side of the continent, which were of course unknown at the time. The map correctly shows the Amazon River rising in these unexplored mountains and thence flowing eastward.

Itself compiled from more than twenty different source documents of varying antiquity, the Piri Reis Map depicts the Amazon not once but twice (most probably as a result of the unintentional overlapping of two of the source documents used by the Turkish admiral. In the first of these the Amazon’s course is shown down to its Para River mouth, but the important island of Marajo does not appear. According to Hapgood, this suggests that the relevant source map must have dated from a time, perhaps as much as 15,000 years ago, when the Para River was the main or only mouth of the Amazon and when Marajo Island was part of the mainland on the northern side of the river. The second depiction of the Amazon, on the other hand, DOES show Marajo (in fantastically accurate detail) despite the fact that this island was not discovered until 1543. Again, the possibility is raised of an unknown civilization which undertook continuous surveying and mapping operations of the changing face of the earth over a period of many thousands of years, with Piri Reis making use of earlier and later source maps left behind by this civilization.

Although they remained undiscovered until 1592, the Falkland Islands appear on the 1513 map at their correct latitude.

The library of ancient sources incorporated in the Piri Reis Map may also account for the fact that it convincingly portrays a large island in the Atlantic Ocean to the east of the South American coast where no such island now exists. Is it pure coincidence that this "imaginary" island turns out to be located right over the sub-oceanic Mid-Atlantic Ridge just north of the equator and 700 miles east of the coast of Brazil, where the tine Rocks of Sts. Peter and Paul now jut above the waves? Or was the relevant source map drawn deep in the last Ice Age, when sea levels were far lower than they are today and a large island could indeed have been exposed at this spot?

So is the map proof of lost civilizations? Probably not by itself. Still, it is another piece of the puzzle of mankind's history that does not quite seem to fit.

I loved this info since i love to research history. if you found this mind blowing info boring, you may as well hang yourself.

The Piri Reis Map V - Einstein approves it!!!!

Albert Einstein endorses it, as we shall see below, and despite the later admission of John Wright, President of the American Geographical Society that Hapgood had "posed hypotheses that cry aloud for further testing" no further scientific research has ever been undertaken into these anomalous early maps. Moreover, far from being applauded for making a serious new contribution to the debate about the antiquity of human civilization, Hapgood himself continued until his death to be cold-shouldered by the majority of his professional peers -- who couched their discussion of his work in what has accurately been described as "thick and unwarranted sarcasm, selecting trivia and factors not subject to verification as the bases for condemnation, seeking in this way to avoid the basic issues."

The late Charles Hapgood taught the history of science at Keene College, New Hampshire, USA. He wasn't a geologist, or an ancient historian. It is possible, however, that future generations will remember him as the man whose work undermined the foundations of world history - and a large chunk of world geology as well.

Albert Einstein was amongst the first to realize this when he took the unprecedented step of contributing the forward to a book that Hapgood wrote in 1953, some years before he began his investigation of the Piri Reis Map:

"I frequently receive communications from people who wish to consult me concerning their unpublished ideas," Einstein observed. "It goes without saying that these ideas are very seldom possessed of scientific validity. The very first communication, however, that I received from Mr. Hapgood electrified me. His idea is original, of great simplicity, and - if it continues to prove itself -- of great importance to everything that is related to the history of the earth's surface."

The "idea" expressed in Hapgood's 1953 book is a global geological theory which, together with many other anomalies of earth science, elegantly explains how and why large parts of Antarctica could have remained ice-free until 4000 BCE. In brief the argument is as follows:

1.Antarctica was not always covered with ice and was, at one time, much warmer than it is today.
2.It was warm because it was not physically located at the South Pole in that period. Instead it stood approximately
2,000 miles further to the north. This "would have put it outside the Antarctic Circle in a temperate or cold temperate climate."
3.The continent moved to its present position inside the Antarctic Circle as a result of a mechanism known as earth-crust-displacement. This mechanism, in no sense to be confused with plate-tectonics or so-called continental drift, is one whereby the lithosphere, the whole outer crust of the earth: "may be displaced at times, moving over the soft inner body, much as the skin of an orange, if it were loose, might shift over the inner part of the orange all in one piece."
4."During the envisaged southwards movement of Antarctica brought about by earth-crust displacement, the continent would gradually have grown colder, an ice-cap forming and remorselessly expanding over several thousands of years until it at last attained its present dimensions."

Orthodox geologists, however, remain reluctant to accept Hapgood's theory (although none have succeeded in proving it incorrect). It raises many questions. Of these by far the most important is the following: what conceivable mechanism would be able to exert sufficient thrust on the lithosphere to precipitate a phenomenon of such magnitude as a crustal displacement?

We have no better guide than Einstein to summarize Hapgood's findings in this respect: "In a polar region there is continual deposition of ice, which is not symmetrically distributed about the pole. The earth's rotation acts on these unsymmetrically deposited masses, and produces centrifugal momentum that is transmitted to the rigid crust of the earth. The constantly increasing centrifugal momentum produced in this way will, when it has reached a certain point, produce a movement of the earth's crust over the rest of the earth's body..." (Einstein's foreword to "Earth's Shifting Crust" p. 1)

The Piri Reis Map IV - Explanation

Piri Reis did not venture any suggestion as to the identity of the cartographers who had produced the earlier maps. In 1963, however, Professor Charles. H. Hapgood proposed a novel and thought-provoking solution to the problem. Some of the source maps that the Admiral had made use of, he argued, in particular those said to date back to the fourth century BCE, had themselves been based on even older sources, which in turn had been based on sources more ancient still originating in the farthest antiquity. There was, he asserted, irrefutable evidence, that the earth had been comprehensively mapped before 4000 BCE by a hitherto unknown and undiscovered civilization that had achieved a high level of technological advancement:

"It appears" [he concluded] "that accurate information has been passed down from people to people. It appears that the charts must have originated with a people unknown and they were passed on, perhaps by the Minoans and the Phoenicians, who were, for a thousand years and more, the greatest sailors of the ancient world. We have evidence that they were collected and studied in the great library of Alexandria [Egypt] and that compilations of them were made by the geographers who worked there."

From Alexandria, according to Hapgood's reconstruction, copies of these compilations and of some of the original source maps were transferred to other centers of learning -- notably Constantinople. Finally, when Constantinople was seized by the Venetians during the Fourth Crusade in 1204, the maps began to find their way into the hands of European sailors and adventurers:

"Most of these maps were of the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. But maps of other areas survived. These included maps of the Americas and maps of the Arctic and Antarctic Oceans. It becomes clear that the ancient voyagers traveled from pole to pole. Unbelievable as it may appear, the evidence nevertheless indicates that some ancient people explored Antarctica when its coasts were free of ice. It is clear, too, that they had an instrument of navigation for accurately determining longitudes that was far superior to anything possessed by the peoples of ancient, medieval or modern times until the second half of the 18th century.

This evidence of a lost technology will support and give credence to many of the other hypotheses that have been brought forward of a lost civilization in remote times. Scholars have been able to dismiss most of that evidence as mere myth, but here we have evidence that cannot be dismissed. The evidence requires that all the other evidence that has been brought forward in the past should be reexamined with an open mind." Among other claims:

The map shows the earth as seen from space
The map shows the subglacial topography of Greenland
The map shows the subglacial topography of Antarctica
The map is aligned with the earth's energy grid (whatever that means)

PORTOLON MAP:
The Piri Reis map is not made like modern maps with horizontal and vertical grid for location purposes but with an older method perfected by Dulcert Portolano which instead had a series of circles with lines radiating from them. Maps made by this method are thus termed "portolan" maps. Their purpose was to guide navigators from port to port and not for the modern idea of find position. This makes it more difficult to compare features from the Piri Reis map with modern maps.

The map is a portolan chart, a common form at this time. Instead of latitude and longitude grids, compass roses were placed at key points with azimuths radiating from them. That said, the east-west lines through the small rose off South America in the center of the map are a very good approximation to the Equator, both there and with respect to Africa. The small one at the very top of the map is a very good estimate of 45 north where the east-west azimuth hits the coast of France. The two big compass roses in mid-Atlantic are harder to place. They might locate the tropic lines (23-1/2 north and south) or they could represent 22-1/2 latitude (one-fourth of the way from equator to pole). Considering they are a bit closer to 45 degrees than the equator, the tropic lines are the best bet.
The straight parallels of latitude show that the map cannot be azimuthal. It has to be a cylindrical projection, probably cylindrical equidistant if anything. A cylindrical equidistant projection has equally spaced parallels of latitude. It was rarely used in pre-computer times (there are better projections that are just as easy to construct) but has become a lot more common recently because it is the easiest projection to plot on a computer. (You just plot latitude and longitude directly without any mathematical alterations.)

Most important is that references to maps of Asia, plus some fragmentary lines south of Africa, indicate that this was originally a world map which was torn in half along the eastern edge. Wouldn't it be marvelous to see the other half?

Most of the bizarre claims made for the Piri Reis Map utterly ignore the marginal notes, which pretty conclusively show the map is entirely 16th century terrestrial in origin.

The map seems to show more detail than Europeans were likely to have in 1513. Pizarro hadn't been to Peru, yet, so how did Piri Reis know about the Andes? Did somebody hear tales of mountains far inland? Also, the detail on the South American coast seems a bit rich for 1513. Was the map begun then and completed later? Was the map copied later and the date miscopied? But if the map was derived from ancient sources that contained details otherwise unknown to Europeans, why are so many parts of it so crude?

There's also a marginal note opposite South America that says "It is related by the Portuguese infidel that in this spot night and day are at their shortest of two hours, at their longest of twenty two hours. But the day is very warm and in the night there is much dew." That would indicate a far southern latitude, but note that the report explicitly comes from the Portuguese, not from arcane ancient sources. It's possible that some Portuguese expedition was blown very far south, not to Antarctica where the days are rarely "very warm," but perhaps to 50 south or so.

The Piri Reis Map II - Shows Ice Free Antartica!!!!!!!!!

The Piri Reis Map, which is a genuine document, not a hoax of any kind, was made at Constantinople in 1513 CE. It focuses on the western coast of Africa, the eastern coast of South America, and the northern coast of Antarctica. Piri Reis could not have acquired his information on this latter region from contemporary explorers because Antarctica remained undiscovered until 1818 CE, more than 300 years after he drew the map. The ice-free coast of Queen Maud Land shown in the map is a colossal puzzle because the geological evidence confirms that the very latest date that it could have been surveyed and charted in an ice-free condition is 4000 BCE. It is not possible to pinpoint the earliest date that such a task could have been accomplished, but it seems that the Queen Maud Land littoral may have remained in a stable, unglaciated condition for at least 9,000 years before the spreading ice-cap swallowed it entirely. There is no civilization known to history that had the capacity or need to survey that coastline in the relevant period, i.e. between 13,000 BCE and 4000 BCE.

In other words, the true enigma of this 1513 map is not so much its inclusion of a continent that was not discovered until 1818 but rather its portrayal of part of the coastline of that continent under ice-free conditions that came to an end 6,000 years ago and that have not since recurred.!!!!

The Piri Reis Map I

Startling. One of my several entrepreneurial ideas....

Solar electric power association

Home made solar panel

Solar power basics

U.S Department of Energy

American Solar Energy Society

Solar Electric Light Fund of India

World of Solar Energy

The Great Khali!!!!

The giant that brutally decimated Undertaker a few weeks back in WWE smackdown was introduced as "The Great Khali" from India. What a man....!!!!!.
I have never seen anyone beat up Undertaker like this ever before.
When he held the microphone, i was expecting him to speak. obviously. What came out of his mouth shocked me and everyother fan out there. The Great Khali was growling. He did not know even a single word in English. Atleast he could have spoken Hindi or Punjabi. But he was making noises like an animal. I could see the crowd opinion turn negative for The Great Khali. If he cant speak, why give the mike to him.

It is also learnt that The Great Khali is not able to learn the wrestling moves fast. His learnability is very poor. If you notice him, He Cant even Run. Backstage,it is feared that his poor wrestling skills combined with his animal power could prove fatal to some wrestler.
This Judgement day The Great Khali meets Undertaker.
If this turns out to be a bad match, with the kind of bad reviews he is getting, this could turn out to be the end of the Great Khali.
Positives : His size and power
Negatives : Lack of English knowledge,Poor wrestling skills, Lack of crowd support.

I hope The Great Khali stays longer in WWE.

Why do we blog???

This question is bugging me for some time. i have lately noticed that most blogs do not have any continuity and they dont have a common theme.People just blabber something or the other. It looks like a purposeless exercise. Why should we blog?
1.Is it an attempt to draw attention to ourselves?
2.Are we trying to make a statement in this world?
3.Do we really have a purpose to blog?
4.Are we trying to show off our great deeds to others?
5.When we blog, do we do it for ourselves or do we have a target audience???
6.If you have a target audience, wont it influence the way you write thereby stopping you from being the real YOU.

Can there be a blog that makes some sense.?
If you are a blogger ask yourself one question. Well, My absense from Public life for the past 1 month. What the Fa public life ya got man u might ask.. At least was blogging, Orkutting, Gmailing, Airtelling my friends when i was in Chennai( Getting my ass whacked Coding...).I had planned to do a lot of things in my holidays. One month has passed like a flash and i haven't moved my ass yet... In the mean time, got myself an Acer Laptop.
I have been prayig for a long leave when i was employed. But before i could do anything worth mentioning, 1 month has passed and i still have just 30 more days to go to Pune.
This is a snapshot of what i have been upto....

My Last Day in Infosys!!

Today March 31st is my last working day in Infosys for now.

I have had great experiences here. One of the most important phases of my Life ends here and a new life begins at Symbiosis Pune.

Having cherished the dream of Doing my MBA for some time, this is really a dream come true for me.

Life at Infosys started on October 18th 2004. I landed in Mysore as a trainee and was awed by the beauty of the Mysore Infosys campus.I wondered how people worked here.
Amazing hostel rooms, swimming pool, Table tennis, Basket ball,Snow bowling, International cricket ground, wonderful food courts, beautiful girls, DJ dance parties, 100s of cycles to go around the big big campus, meeting Narayanamurthy, meeting Manmohan singh and to top it all, intelligent colleagues....
After 3.5 months of training in Mysore, I was posted to Hyderebad.I dreaded going to HydereBAD.lady luck was on my side as anupama offered to go to Hyd and i hopped onto the next shatabdi to Chennai.Without knowing what was in store for me!!!!

When most of my friends were on bench doing nothing, i had to start on my project from day 1.But it was a cool testing project. All i had to do was test some 20 cases which ate up 20 minutes of my precious time everyday leaving me with just 7 hours to read all the newspapers in the office.Believe me being in office with nothing to do isnt easy.

Then came the big daddy of all development projects.I had to learn java, j2ee, jsp , servlet and what not.Laziness being my biggest asset, and not born with a cup of java in my mouth, everything seemed alien to me.

HE said "Do a System.out.println and check the console";
I Understood "Do a... check the...";
What is System.Out.Println??? and what is a console?? IS it something like a space capsule??!!!

HE Said "Go to the RH and call the BO and pass the DVO";
I Understood "Where is RH and who the hell is BO? Why is he called BO? What in the world is DVO and why should i go to RH to pass the DVO? Cant i pass it from here itself??";

He Said "See machan, simple da. Construct an Inner DVO and simply put the inner DVO in the outer DVO. Self-contradicting thoughts such as trying to get rid of pain by thinking of pain will make the pain get power and become real. These suck your energy and make you powerless. The word you repeat within yourself should be true.

First we need to straighten our thought process. Pure truth will never have self-contradicting thoughts.Truth makes your dreams come true.

Thathuvam 2006

South India-la Narthangai kidaikkum. type='text'>Asian Region of the future

ASIAN REGION OF THE FUTURE:

Winner: Tamil Nadu, India

Competition was closer and the playing field more level in the regions section of fDi’s contest, with the Indian state of Tamil Nadu edging ahead of Australia’s New South Wales to claim the title Asian Region of the Future 2005/06. Tamil Nadu took first place in the all-important category of best FDI potential.

As investors such as Ford, Hyundai, Nokia and, most recently, BMW have discovered to their delight, Tamil Nadu has managed to avoid or mitigate problems that dog other locations in India, such as infrastructure and energy failings. Through pro-active and business friendly government policies, the state has harmonious industrial relations, a matured business culture and abundant skilled manpower.

Things should only get better: several new fly-overs and by-passes are under construction that will ease traffic congestion in heaving Chennai, and an ‘IT Expressway’ project will widen the main access road to that city’s thriving software cluster. This hints at Tamil Nadu’s real secret weapon: Chennai’s IT corridor employs nearly 50,000 people, and this number is set to increase to as much as 90,000 when some of the major IT companies investing there get their operations up and running.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

From: 'Taledo'
Sent: Tuesday, January 17, 2006 9:05 PM
To: 'Praveen'
Cc: 'Rijan'; 'Govind'; 'Subbu'
Subject: RE: Important: Database Requires re-start.

Dei praveen nee mattum amablaiya irundha idha un blogle poda

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From: 'Rijan'
Sent: Tuesday, January 17, 2006 9:02 PM
To: 'Praveen'; 'Subbu'; 'Govind'
Cc: 'Taledo'
Subject: RE: Important: Database Requires re-start.

Naan ellam tanglish’la kazhtapattu type panni…anupina… athala englishhh spelling mistake kandupidikira…. Had been there for my FMS written test. This was jus an excuse to go to Bangalore to meet all my friends. But saturday night was uneventful.

When i got the question paper, i once wondered if i was sitting in a 6th standard school maths test. Couldnt believe my eyes. What is 20% of 100 sort of questions in a MBA admission test for FMS the Great prestigious Institution of the great University of Delhi in the Great Indian Capital City. Grow up guys.
Well if this is the standard that FMS expects, then wait a minute let me send my 13 year old cousin to FMS. He can answer most of the questions.

The so called question paper consisted of 175 questions.
Reading Comprehension + Verbal 75
Quants 50
Reasoning 50

attempted 55 in Verbal, Quants 35 and Reasoning 45
This totals 540 marks
Expected marks 450( +/- 20)
Expected cutoff 450( +/- 20) ...!!!

Two types of exams can screw you .. XAT which requires research scholars to understand what the questions mean in the first place or FMS type of exams which are too stupid to be true. In the same way, even if you think that God doesn't exist ;Even if you think God is just a fear of the unknown; If you include God in your life, it makes life more meaningful and Happier."
Hey Atheists, Is that something to ponder about?

Innovation unlimited.! A father's request.

Today morning i was travelling in the I*****s staff bus on my way to my office. When i looked out at the security at the UTI bank ATM , I had no idea why he was smiling at me. Then he did something strange. As if an idea struck him at that very moment, he dug out a few sheets of paper from his bag and came running towards the bus.

Through the open window, he forced the sheets of paper into my seat, looked at me and said "My daughter's resume sir, Please..".

This was the most unusual way of applying for a job!!.

I wanted to say no. I wanted to explain to him that my company accepts only soft copies of resumes forwarded to the company email address. I wanted to ask him about his daughter's qualification. Neither do I know him nor am i the HR. I wanted to invent reasons to say no to him.

But i did take the resume. why?

His eyes. The glow in his eyes that wanted to see his daughter become successful in life.
That talked about how hard he must have worked to educate his daughter. The hope in his eyes that he could do something on his part to get a job for his daughter. I remember seeing the same hope in my dad's eyes when he used to ask me if i was successfull in the interview. And the happiness in his eyes when i told him that i have become a software engineer in I*****s.

That is every parent's dream. I did not want to disappoint this parent.....

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://spacekey.blogspot.com/2005/08/innovation-unlimited-fathers-request.html' title='Innovation unlimited.!
